What is it?
- An imaging method of sonography that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body such as muscle and internal organs
- The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions.
- In an ultrasound exam, a hand-held device called a transducer is placed against the skin. The transducer sends out high frequency sound waves that reflect off of body structures. The returning sound waves, or echoes, are displayed as an image on a monitor.
Types of Ultrasounds we offer:
- General Ultrasound
- Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK)
- Obstetrical (Dating, Integrated Prenatal Testing/Nuchal Translucency, Anatomy, Biophysical Profile, Growth Assessments)
- Thyroid
- Breast
- and more
Risks?
- Ultrasound diagnostic imaging is a relatively safe procedure with no known risks. These tests emit low-power waves. Unlike an X-Ray, there is no ionizing radiation exposure with this test.
